Background:
It is that passion for sports together with high academic standards has motivated Mr Lucas Beaujon to join with Mr Luis Santine and Miss Danique Zimmerman to establish the Curacao Athletic Scholarship Foundation to assist talented young athletes with high academic performance to reach their goals as student athlete in high schools and/or academies.
What do we do:
We ensure through selection of the right student athletes, placement and funding of high school careers in the United States in principle, but not limited to USA.
We select the student athlete by joining with professionals in the field to assess the child in the athletic area of the sport he /she is practicing and in the academic area.
We also ensure that during the student athlete career follow up is made on progress in the athletic field and the academic area.
We fund the foundation by donors through companies, personal donations and government entities. Furthermore, we organize fund raising events together with these donations to cover as much as possible a zero-cost high school education.
Finally, we have professional counselors to help in the search and selection of Colleges / Universities to ensure proper placement after high school career.
Main Selection Criteria:
Athletic:
- Love for the sport
- Local and International achievement in the sport
- In good physical condition for the hard work in the sport
- Successful admittance in High School Sport or Academy
Academic:
- In good academic standards
- English and Mathematics assessment necessary
- Successful admittance in a High School
Personal:
- Preparedness to live away from parents
- Parents prepared to have their children live away from home at an early age
